In a country like ours, it is not easy for a woman to get a job, after a couple of gap years. The struggle increases if you are residing at a place like Munnar, where employment opportunities are very less. One fine day in the year 2008, my husband informed me that some hiring was going to happen for BPO related jobs. A couple of management people had come from Hyderabad for the interview process. I felt really happy as I was a homemaker at that time and was eagerly looking for such kind of opportunities. As I went to attend the interview process, I saw a huge crowd, of more than 600 people, willingly waiting to get interviewed. Finally, only 60 employees were selected from the pool of 600 in a span of 2 days, and I was a part of that 60. I felt really proud that day to be a part of the pilot batch.

There has been no turning back for me since then. My journey from CCE to AM, has been really amazing. I had never imagined that I will go on to work for such a big organisation and that too at a place like Munnar. My association with Quess changed my entire life. I was able to complete my Master’s degree post joining Quess, my socio-economic status got better, and I was recognized as a highly respected woman in my circle. My work not only enabled me to travel to different places and get good exposure, but also helped me provide good education to my children. It was because of this job, that I was able to fulfil many needs of my family.

Just like any other human being, I have had my own set of challenges. My younger daughter was not even 2 years old when I joined this organisation. I had to face a lot of challenges personally and professionally. Apart from working in different shifts in different departments, travelling in Munnar was a herculean task. Munnar being a forest area, surrounded with trees & tea estates, was also exposed to the constant menace of wild elephant encroachment. Now, imagine travelling 27 Kms up and down on a two wheeler in the late evening, on a deserted hilly road running through the deep jungle; this was no easy feat. But with the grace of God, my husband’s support and the thirst I had in me that I have to achieve something in my life, I was able to continue with this job, and in fact thrive.

When people come to me and tell me that I am a role model for all the women of Munnar, I feel really humbled. I am a true believer of God. I believe that I exist because of his grace in my life & the next most important thing for me is dedication. Whatever may be the task assigned to me, I put my whole heart and soul into it. These two values, I feel, if we hold dearly, will definitely show us the path towards success.

“Belief in God, hard work & dedication are those elements of life which never let us down and
that for me is the heart of I am Quess!”
