In this one life we have, it is important that we live it doing the things we love, and being the best versions of ourselves. I try to live my life following this policy every day. Most people are worried that once college is over, their jobs wouldn’t allow them to pursue their real dreams and goals. In my case, it is quite miraculous that I have been to work at a place that makes me live & realize my dreams daily.

I studied Social Work in College, and I was looking at career opportunities that allow me to work in the sphere of Social Work. My journey with Careworks Foundation has been just that. CWF is the NGO arm of Quess Corp Ltd, and I joined CWF as an intern right after college. Since my internship got over, I have been working as a program officer here. My role lets me interact with little children and help them attain better lives by impacting their health, education and hygiene facilities. My work involves going to partner government schools, talking to teachers, building a good rapport with the school management and eventually begin actioning activities that will benefit school infrastructure.  From forming the school cabinet to improving health & sanitation facilities for children, my work here is all encompassing and covers the entire gamut of CSR activities; in short just what I was looking for.

Apart from working with children, my life’s biggest passion is hockey. I am a national level hockey player, and have represented Women’s Hockey Karnataka State and Hockey Coorg, more than 20 times. I am proud to say that I have been an active player in several important tournaments like Senior South Zone Women’s Hockey Tournament, Junior & Senior Nationals Women Hockey tournament, All India Inter University Women’s Hockey tournament, National Games (Kerala) and more. I have also been captain of Mysore University team and was awarded the best player award, despite having recovered from a major injury just before the tournament began. My hockey efforts also won me a gold medal in 2015’s Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) All India Women’s Hockey Tournament.

My hockey journey began when I was in 7th standard. I loved seeing my seniors play the game, and I knew I had to be a part of it. I discovered I had a natural talent for hockey and initially I participated in district and taluk level championships, but my real training began when I joined Sports Hostel in Kushalnagar, Coorg. My 3 years there honed my skills, and my practice sessions improved my game considerably. My coach Mr. Vijay Krishna is one of my biggest inspirations for he helped me nurture and improve my game. What also immensely helped was my parent’s support who always encouraged me to play and allowed me to explore opportunities at par with boys. They always believed in me. It is for this reason that they are my role models who always rooted for me.

I am lucky to be part of a company like Quess that gave me the opportunity to participate in Women’s Senior National Hockey tournament in Ranchi this year. My team is so encouraging, supportive and motivating, that I feel wonderful to have colleagues that are as close as family. Their good wishes and blessings far exceeded the cheers and applauses I received at the playground. My goal in life has always been to help everyone around me; be it my friends, family or neighbors. I love children and it gives me great happiness that today I am somewhere where I can help children attain better lives. I am grateful to be with a company like Quess that not only allows me to live my dream, but also helps me be a better person daily. I will always be proud to say that I Am Quess!
